Braden + Hayley: A Winter Evening Proposal

I have photographed such a wide variety of events in the past 9 years of shooting, but never have I had the chance to photograph a marriage proposal – that is, not until last Saturday evening! My dear friend Rebecca of Rebecca M. Creative & Production reached out to me about shooting the proposal of her friend and co-worker, Braden. She said it was on her “bucket list” to help plan a proposal, and Rebecca and I? We are allllll about bucket lists! So of course I wanted to be a part of it. We had originally played around with lots of ideas, including going into the canyon, but the weather took a sharp turn for the worse: snow, and LOTS of it, was headed our way. We already knew it would be dark by the time Braden and Hayley showed up, and didn’t want to add buckets of snow dumping on them in the darkness.

So Rebecca and Braden changed plans and decided to move the proposal to the fountain at the Provo City Center temple. That way they could walk over whenever we gave him the go-ahead, and it was well-lit for a nighttime stroll. Rebecca and her trusty side-kick and incredible dress designer, Rachel of Rachel Elizabeth Designs, brought the flowers and set up the scene just in time for Braden and Hayley to round the corner.

Luckily for me, I had my good friend Stacee Lianna visiting me for the weekend, and that meant we now had two cameras aimed at the two of them! It was fun to witness such a special moment in someone’s life – the moment that turned them from boyfriend and girlfriend into fiancees!! After she said yes (of course!!!) we were able to do a few quick shots around the temple grounds. The snow drifting down over the black of the night and the twinkling temple lights made for such a romantic, magical evening!! I am so excited for Braden and Hayley and so grateful I got to be a small part of this proposal!
