I’ve been looking forward to Molly and Josh’s wedding day since I first met them for their engagement session in downtown Frederick last May. They were both so easy-in-love, so natural and joyful, young and fresh yet mature and down to earth. I knew they were the kind of couple that would make a wedding day a joy to photograph – and I was right.
I have never seen a bride smile the way Molly did as she walked through the doors of the temple, after being sealed to Josh for eternity, and seeing her family waiting for her – waiting to celebrate, to congratulate, and to embrace. She just looked like all the world was right, and that with Josh by her side, she could handle whatever came her way in this life.
I was also really excited to shoot their wedding day because they had also asked me to photograph a ring ceremony to follow their temple sealing. This was special to me because it was something my husband and I also did after our own wedding in the LDS temple. Often, LDS couples who choose to have a ring ceremony after their wedding ceremony do so in order to allow their family members families that were not able to witness the ceremony to be a part of the wedding day in a different, still meaningful, way. Josh’s father shared with everyone present the significance of a temple sealing, and why Josh and Molly chose to marry in the temple.
Afterwards, they mingled with friends and family during a casual reception in their church building. Toasts were made, cake was cut, a newlywed game played, and one single dance was shared between Molly and her Dad. They left that night surrounded by those who loved and supported them the most – and a tunnel full of bubbles!
