I have the wonderful Brooke Bakken to thank for introducing me to Amber and Matt. She sent them my way when they were in need of a photographer. We woke up at sunrise to beat the crowds and to capture a beautiful DC Cherry Blossom engagement session.
From that day on, I was hooked. I was privileged to second shoot for Brooke when she captured Amber and Matt’s wedding day two and a half years ago. I have kept tabs on these two through the years on social media, and have also commiserated with Amber via messenger when we both decide to be crazy do yet another round of Whole30. I also often find myself nodding in agreement with pretty much anything and everything Amber shares online. Her thoughts are always so articulate, insightful, and inspiring to me. She stays up-to-date on current events and responds to them with poise and precision that is so far beyond my capability and maturity. My respect for Amber, and for these two as a couple, only grows more and more with each interaction with them. Oh…not to mention Amber is about to give her dissertation to earn her PhD. Like I said. She’s the bomb. Matt is awesome, too. I promise.
Meeting up with them after all this time away, and now seeing them about to become parents, was such a treat. They are, both, awash with the pregnancy glow…. is it possible for it to spread to a paternity glow? Because if so, Matt definitely has it 😉 These two are definitely no strangers to children. They have nieces and nephews galore on both sides. I know they will fall into the mom and dad role so easily and naturally, and don’t doubt that this little boy will grow up knowing his own divine nature, and just how to respect that same divinity in the women around him. I am so thrilled for these two to meet him, and am also just as thrilled they chose to capture this special time before he does come. I know they will forever treasure these last few weeks just the two of them, before their newest addition arrives!
