Remember Kara and Jason’s stunning First Look session that I photographed while at the United Conference in Arizona? Well, as I mentioned in that post, we actually had two sets of models that we were able to work with. I decided to make two separate posts about these couples because their sessions turned out so unique, I felt like they each really needed their own space on my blog!
So, allow me to introduce to you Kristen and Michael! While Kara and Jason have been married for seven years, have three kids, and are comfortable and intimate in their love, Kristen and Michael have only been married a few months!! They, too, are intimate in their love, but they carry with them the kind of spark that only newlyweds have. A kind of infectious, constant joy and excitement for each other and the moment. I really love comparing these two sessions because they were taken on the same day, in the same lighting, and in the same locations, and yet they are entirely different. I think that really highlights the power we as photographers have, as well as the responsibility, to portray the different personalities and interactions our clients have with each other, as well as the way they interact with the camera.
I also just wanted to take a second and give a shout-out to Katelyn James. Last night she gave an incredible webinar on Editing for Skin Tones. I was absolutely blown away by her knowledge and her willingness to share it with everyone. I learned so much in just one hour about editing and Lightroom, consistency and efficiency. The morning after her webinar, I woke up early and completely re-edited these images of Kristen and Michael. Here are a few side-by-side comparisons of the changes she has helped me implement in my editing!

On the right: New edits with Katelyn’s tips and editing for skin tones.
