Hi, I'm meghan

When my event planner Brandi, from Charming Grace Events, told me that she had reached out to Vintage Veils for our Hair & Make Up Artists at my styled shoot this past March, I jumped onto their website and began to peruse their work. I was immediately blown away with their talent – you seriously have to see some of their before & after photos on their Instagram to know what I mean! I was so impressed, in fact, that I committed myself to making our styled shoot up to par with their level of expertise. I wanted all of my incredible vendors to feel challenged and inspired, and seeing just how amazing Amy’s business is made me want to step up my game!

Our shoot came, and Amy and her sister Valerie arrived with such a wonderful aura about them – excitement and passion followed them, but they also left me feeling peaceful and at ease. I don’t know how they did it, but if I had to guess I would say it is their confidence. Amy instills confidence in everyone she is around – her love for what she does and the people she is serving flows out of her and lifts everyone else up. It’s not just applying make up or curling hair, it really is an experience! I am jealous of her brides and know that whoever works with Amy and her team will never be disappointed they did!

How did you get started in your business?

I’ve had a serious passion for art my entire life and when I was introduced to the world of makeup artistry, I was swept off of my feet! Vintage Veils came to fruition when my little sister and I married both her hair styling talents with my artistry! With strong beautician blood running through our veins, naturally we began styling bridal hair & makeup for many of our friends and family. After years of cosmetic retailing, I took a leap of faith and geared up to create my very own business. Weddings represent happiness and love. Who wouldn’t want to revolve their world around that? This business gives me a purpose and I feel so fortunate for that every single day.

How would you describe your style and/or what is your favorite type of work to do?

My go to makeup style for my brides is a very classic, soft-glamour. I really love highlighting a bride’s features! Styled shoots are definitely some of my favorite gigs. I love working side by side with so many other talented people in the same industry to help make a vision come to life!

When I am freelancing and not working with my brides, I really enjoy the very alternative makeup trends. I will always LOVE a bright or bold lip.

How do you stay inspired? What do you do when you are in a creative rut?

Being an office rat is a lifestyle that many creative’s like me embrace as we work to hone our craft and take our career’s to the next level. I fully respect that! However, feeling stuck in the same place for too long feels like a stunt to my growth. With this in mind, I think it’s important for artists to leave the confines of their natural habitat to travel to new places, especially during times when they are struggling to create. While it’s unrealistic to casually take a trip to Key West or Colorado just because the “struggle is real”, taking a hike or a short weekend trip to a new spot has always had the ability to spark new ideas and concepts for me!

What is your favorite part about your work?

Makeup artistry gives me creative freedom! It’s a visionary outlet that also gifts me the power to really make someone feel good at the same time! It makes me undeniably happy to watch my clients smile.

How do you love to serve your clients?

I love to serve my client’s by going beyond what I’ve actually been hired to do. A glass of champagne served during their trial session never hurt either!

If you had one tip for a bride, what would it be?

I would advise the bride-to-be to set up a hair and makeup trial with her beauty team during the wedding planning process. I always try and compare a bridal makeup trial to a dress fitting, as it would be impossible to choose the correct dress without trying it on. No blind dates! The same applies to your Bridal Makeup & Hair, not only is it important for your Makeup Artist/stylist to try out different colors and looks, but most of all it is important for the Bride to feel happy and confident that she will look perfect on her big day.

Lastly, a fun question — what is your guilty pleasure?

Lounge wear. I live for sweats, hoodies, t-shirts and hats.
