I love being a part of photography groups online and in person. I have a Facebook group to thank for meeting Scott and Sharon! Scott and I both attended a photography seminar almost 6 months ago, and after the seminar was over, I started a group to keep in touch with other attendees. Scott happened to be one of the people to join, and we were able to continue to watch each other learn and grow in our photography business, and help encourage one another. So when I got an email from Scott telling me it was his turn to be engaged, I was over the moon excited for him, and completely honored to be asked to be their wedding photographer!
Being a wedding photographer’s wedding photographer is a little nerve-wracking, but it is also very exciting because I know he will place value and emphasis on portrait time, and I won’t have to convince him he definitely wants more! He also understands why I do certain things, and why I need to chase that sunset!
When we met up in Old Town Alexandria, Scott put me at ease by saying, “I want you to be completely at charge, I don’t want to think about anything photography-related.” I loved and so appreciated his trust in me, especially when I know he has the knowledge. Sharon was just as sweet and generous…I think she is used to the photography talk, having Scott as her fiance!
They met online a few years ago, and dated long distance until Sharon was able to move closer to Scott. Now they live down the road from each other! Scott proposed in a garden one evening after they had spent the week at a beach together, and asked her to spend her life with him. The story behind the ring is so sweet; Scott was able to obtain stones that were his grandparents’, and use them to custom-design this ring for Sharon! How amazing, and what a legacy! Now they are busy planning a wedding together, with Scott being the “Big-Picture Guy” and Sharon being the detail-oriented one. I am so excited I get to be a part of this engaged season of their life and to capture their wedding day!
