Hi, I'm meghan

When I think of my Maryland family sessions, I always think of Downtown Annapolis. Whenever people suggest shooting there, I always nod along with enthusiasm. There is just something so charming about Annapolis, and it really is an iconic image of the Eastern Shore: the historic buildings that seem to transport you back in time, the brick walkways and hidden alleyways, the brightly colored homes stacked neatly beside each other, and of course, Ego Alley with its boats, friendly sailors, and delicious restaurants!

This sweet family of four nailed their Annapolis family photos with their pops of white and blue: the perfect nautical touch! We started at the capitol building, for the white and simple background of the steps, carefully climbing up and down and making sure to throw in a quick tickle fight. Then we stopped to smell the huge magnolias blossoming in the gardens of Capitol Hill before heading down to the docks where we charmed the ducks and checked out the boats.

Most families who choose to take their family photos in downtown Annapolis use the never-fail ice cream bribery to make for happy and cooperative children. This time, I got to tag along with them as they meandered into the Annapolis Ice Cream Company and picked out favorite flavors and lots of rainbow sprinkles. The ice cream store wasn’t even open when we first showed up, but they were kind enough to oblige when we mentioned that these were for their family photos! Not just amazing ice cream but also generous and kind!!

I was inspired by this loving family: parents that still kiss and claim it’s “even better than the ice cream!,” and adorable kids that are outgoing and fun to talk to. I loved the lifestyle aspect of this session: Dad holding onto his daughter as they reached out over the water to offer a cracker to the ducks, and sweet chocolate mustaches as the kids devoured their ice cream. As a photographer, this is one of those families that you hope you get the chance to photograph over and over again!
