I was so happy to have met the Brauns family while we were on Oahu! Once I started chatting with Cary, I found out that they had just come from living on the East Coast….I told her we had lived in Maryland for 6 years and we bonded over missing that side of the country! Her and her family will be in Hawaii for the next year, and they decided to make the most of it, including capturing their family while they lived there. Cary told me they weren’t super beachy people, so we opted for the Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe instead of your typical beach family photos. It had been raining pretty heavily the week previous, so the grounds were a bit muddy but we stayed on the trail as best we could and made the most of it!
Her sweet son stole my heart, with his blonde hair, blue eyes, and BIG heart for his baby sister (reminded me of someone I might know….). He was such a good sport and I could always count on him to be giving me the best smile, even if no one else was ready yet. Middle sister ALSO reminded me of MY second child. Independent, and determined to carve their own path. We had to run to keep up with that girl! She made me work for my money 😉 Baby sister was as sweet as can be and was happy to be a part of the group.
It made my heart so happy to meet and chat with some fellow east-coasters, all the way out in the middle of the Pacific ocean. I love that my camera allows me opportunities to meet up with people I never would have otherwise! I am so glad I got to capture this sweet family during their short stay on Oahu, and I hope they look back on these photos with fond memories of this time in their life, in the wet, humid, and lusciously-green land of Hawaii!
