Asheville Elopement Photographer | Brooke + Ryan

This sweet, intimate Asheville Elopement brought me the most hope and love in the middle of the COVID quarantine. While Brooke and Ryan and originally planned on having the traditional wedding with a ceremony in front of all their friends and family, their plans had to change. And one thing they knew they didn’t want was to wait. They didn’t want to wait one more day to finally be married. Instead of changing their wedding date, they changed everything else around it. An airbnb was booked, and their guest list was slimmed down to only three other people. But one thing remained: their love for each other through the good and the bad, the hard and the easy.

The night before their wedding, I received a text from Ryan. He informed me that his brother was no longer able to make it, due to COVID concerns. Ryan then asked if I would be willing to be their second witness on their marriage certificate. While I was sad that his brother and best man would not be able to make it, I was honored to be a part of their marriage in such a sweet way.

The Day of the Elopement

When I showed up at their new location that Saturday morning, the skies were clear and the sunshine was warm. Their Airbnb was tucked back into a private, twisty dirt road. It felt like we were the only ones for miles. Brooke and her best friend got ready quietly in the bathroom, sipping champagne and laughing together. Not long later, Ryan arrived in the driveway. We kept them separated as Brooke got zipped into her dress.

Their ceremony was filled with emotion and excitement, and I could tell both of them knew they had made the right choice in not postponing their wedding. Ryan later said, “I was missing family and friends leading up to the ceremony, but once Brooke walked out she was the only person in this whole world that mattered.” After their vows, they skyped with their family and shared the MOST delicious cake I think I’ve ever had at a wedding. It was Maple Nut and tasted like a donut. Yum.

Then I got to take these two out alone for some beautiful portraits – my favorite part of course! It was so lovely. We weren’t rushed, we were alone, and they were happy. Their wedding day turned out to beautifully. And the best part? I get to see them again next year for their big celebration of their one year anniversary – the party everyone else will be at 🙂
