TWO new series starting in ONE week? I know, I know I’m feeling crazy these days! It’s a good crazy! I finally have found excitement and purpose in my blog and I just couldn’t wait to get started on all my plans! So today is the start of highlighting Friends on Friday’s! Every other Friday I will be spotlighting wedding vendors – “Friendors” – and other “Fotographers” I love to follow. They will introduce themselves and their business and also give tips for brides!

I’m so happy to have Tracy Love from Whipped. Cakes & Confections in Crofton, Maryland on the blog today, as my very first Friendor! Tracy has been in the cake-baking business since 2005. She is so amazing that she even made the cake for her very own wedding! That sounds so stressful to me, but it turned out beautifully.

She will be baking the cake for my first styled shoot, which will be happening this December! I couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on the team! Welcome Tracy to the blog! Tracy

How I started: I grew up in the kitchen with my mom and grandma so baking seemed to come naturally to me. As I got older, I discovered that it was something I really enjoyed doing and I became incredibly passionate about it. I initially just made cakes for family and my close friends but before long everyone started referring me to friends and friends of friends. I remember having these big dreams of having a store front one day, and yes, those big dreams still exist! But I’ve loved what I do so much since the start and even then it didn’t matter that I only had that 7×10 foot kitchen in that tiny apartment to work in. Somehow I’ve been lucky enough to grow into a successful home-based business and that’s what works for our family now. There’s nothing better than being able to do what you love from your own home. Well, besides a fancy store front showcasing all of your pretty creations. There’s always that. 😉

My favorite part: The buttercream, duh. I kid, I kid! I’d have to say my favorite part is knowing I’m contributing to a couple’s special day. I absolutely love what I do and I feel incredibly blessed knowing I’m trusted with such an important part of so many milestones in people’s lives.

How I love to serve my clients: I of course love to have creative freedom when it comes to a cake, but I mostly enjoy working closely with my clients and making it a collaboration. I like to exchange ideas and pictures back and forth. Talking about their big day plans, the colors, and the flowers help bring it all to life. It allows me to really pull the vision out of them and I love hearing all about the wedding! I think understanding who my clients are as people really helps me deliver a cake that not only compliments their wedding but captures them as a couple.

Tip for brides: If I could offer one tip to brides, it would be to make sure you are comfortable with your baker; and that holds true with any other wedding vendor for that matter! The cake is the best part, cutting that first slice of cake is the start of your marriage and life together. The cake designing process should be a fun and painless experience. Comfort in knowing you are in good hands goes a long way in the planning process and most importantly, on your big day.

Thank you so much, Tracy! I can’t wait to see the cake you make for our styled shoot and future weddings!
