I am so excited for MaryEllen and Mike’s wedding this coming February!! I have shot several of their friends’ weddings and each one of them have been so enjoyable, I just know that their wedding will be no different. In fact, the first time I met MaryEllen + Mike was at Amy + Drew’s wedding at the beginning of the month! She introduced herself to me during the reception and then 3 days later we were shooting this super fun downtown DC engagement session!
I always love when I get to meet my couples’ pups, too. MaryEllen and Mike rescued Lady Bird, which makes me love her all that much more! She was a little shy so I didn’t get to pet her (Lady Bird, not MaryEllen!), but she was clearly loyal to these two. MaryEllen told me that she has come a long way from when they first adopted her, so they were happy they could include her in the session. MaryEllen has a way of working with special souls – she is also a special education teacher! She is clearly a blessing in so many people’s lives.
We chose to shoot at the World War II Memorial because that is where Mike proposed to MaryEllen one evening. He dropped down on one knee in front of the Massachusetts state column – because that is where MaryEllen is from. It was around 1:30 in the morning at the time so there wasn’t anyone around to take their picture right after the proposal! We made up for that 🙂 These two met while playing on a co-ed softball team. The games were played on the National Mall, so needless to say this whole area holds a lot of meaning for them!
I loved getting to know these two and their kind hearts even better, and can’t wait for February!
