McCall and Michael fulfilled a need I had in my heart – a need to create something beautiful for two souls in love, on the mountain behind my house. Our little Lake Mountain has stolen my heart a bit, as the kids and I often go wondering up there when we want to get away without going far. Adam takes the boys up there to shoot rockets off, and we popped our first tire up there, too. It’s our home mountain and I wanted images of something special created there.
These two met in college, when they lived two doors down from one another. On the day of their wedding, their photographer didn’t show up for their reception, so the photos they have together are pretty limited. They were gracious and grateful to me and this opportunity to shoot them, but more than that, they were in love with each other – which is my favorite, of course.
The weather was kind of all over the place on the day of their session. Gray and cloudy, with temptations of rain every 15 minutes. At the end, the sun peaked out for just a minute. I loved McCall’s two different outfits, and the way they complemented her personality. She was trendy and cute at first, and then whipped out this moody dress and boots and I fell in love with her just a little bit more. The wind was a bit crazy, too, and she tried to tame her hair whipping around and I said Just let it go, and that image is my favorite from the whole session. Just a wisp of hair framing her chin, her smile of letting it go.
