If anything can give you an insight into Paul and Tara, it’s their proposal story. It’s one of my favorites I’ve heard in a long time! Paul chose the weekend of his own birthday to propose to Tara, which completely threw her off his tracks. They took a road trip all the way out to Cedar Point, Ohio – Tara told me that planner in her was going crazy because Paul had told they would just “wing it,” and not a book a hotel until they got there. The car ride was rushed, and filled with Paul having “cryptic” phone conversations…and still Tara didn’t guess what was going on.

When they finally got into Cedar Point, Paul instructed Tara to run into the store and grab food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Tara, although a bit confused, had gotten plenty of food. Finally she learned that Paul had rented a boat for them to spend the weekend on during their stay at Cedar Point! But it wasn’t until after getting dressed up. going out for a fancy dinner, and returning to their boat just in time to catch the Laser Light show over Cedar Point, that Paul got down on one knee and asked Tara to marry him. She had no idea that a proposal was in the plans….all along she assumed everything was for Paul’s birthday weekend!

After meeting up with Tara and Paul for their engagement session in Ellicott City last week, I think this is the perfect story to describe their personalities and relationship. They’re adventurous, romantic, fun, full of surprises, and oh-so-very in love! These two were willing to scale down a rock wall and cross a stream to discover a new spot to photograph, even with Tara in a dress! I loved watching Paul love Tara – helping her cross the stream along the stones, slowly tucking her hair behind her ear, making her laugh and be herself, slowly rocking in their own romantic dance…I hardly had to instruct them! They were already doing ALL the cute things!!

If this session is any indication of how wonderful their wedding will be, I’m a million times grateful I get to be a part of both!
