It is my favorite thing ever to be able to photograph families year after year. I love watching the way they grow up and into themselves, but also into their family. They figure out their place in this world by first figuring out their own family dynamics – and when their family is loving and supportive, they sprout. As a photographer, I can see hints of those changes taking place from year to year, and I love being a witness to that. I have had the beautiful opportunity to photograph the Guenthers since their oldest was just a baby. Our families have become close, as our children are the same ages. We have vacationed together, hiked together, explored together, cried together, dreamed together, worshipped together, prayed together, laughed together, not to mention fangirl over Harry Potter together – and so much more. I can’t imagine my life without these wonderful people in them.
