Columbia Wedding Photographer | Engagements at Riverfront Park
I’m pretty sure Lisa and Michael had just a bit of lunar magic involved with their love story. They met the week of the solar eclipse! It was Lisa’s first week in the area and she was lucky enough to have Michael showing her around. Luckily for them, they were right in the path of totality. Talk about a perfect first date together, right? While neither of them had been expecting or looking for a relationship at the time, they continued to see each other for the next three months. After many concerts, dates, and late night talks, they couldn’t deny it any longer and became “officially official.”
Michael certainly kept things equally magical for his proposal. He had told Lisa that they were going on a weekend getaway, but to wear a nice outfit for dinner out. After Lisa had changed, Michael mentioned they needed to swing by their church to pick something up for his mom. When they got to the church, Lisa saw a spotlight shining on two chairs set up in front of a projector screen. Then Lisa sat down and watched a video he had created from all their pictures and videos through the years. Together they sat and watched their relationship on a screen in a quiet, dark church. At the end of the video, Michael knelt down and shared his heart with Lisa. While the proposal itself was a surprise on its own, the night wasn’t over! They left to go get dinner at their favorite place, and as they entered the room, all of their friends were waiting for them! Michael had even flown in some of Lisa’s high school and college best friends! The rest of the weekend was spent at an Airbnb in town, surrounded by their favorite people! Does that not sound like the most perfect weekend ever?!
Being able to meet up with these two in Columbia for their engagement session was such a joy! The weather was warm, the day was perfect. Spring had just begin to open up the flowers! South Carolina was definitely ahead of North Carolina in its blossoms and I was so grateful for the touch of spring in my life! Michael had suggested going to the Riverfront Canal Park because they had spent a lot of time there together. It ended up being the perfect location for their session! We had greenery, cool architecture and buildings, Spanish moss!, and of course the river. My photographer heart was happy!
I LOVED meeting Lisa and Michael. I can tell they are each other’s best friends, and also each other’s safety and comfort. They are the perfect pair and I couldn’t be happier for them!
