Engagement Photos In Shenendoah National Park
Shri + Terry
If you’ve been following along for any amount of time, I think you know by now that we are a family of National Park lovers. So when Shri asked if I could take their engagement photos in Shenendoah National Park, of COURSE I jumped on it!
I think we can all agree that high school sweethearts are just the best. I mean, seriously. Every time I meet and work with couples that have been together since those delicate high school years, I tuck them away into a special place in my heart! Shri and Terry are one of these such couples! These two both grew up in a suburban upstate NY town, met in high school, and and started dating sophomore year of high school. Sometimes high school sweethearts laugh about being on again/off again as they figured out who they were through college, but Shri says, “We fell in love at the very young age of 16 and have never stopped loving each other and been together for over 10 years now!” Terry and Shri were on a family vacation that they go on every year to Block Island, Rhode Island. After dinner, they went for a walk on the beach to watch the sunset. Shri says that Terry completely surprised her – just like he wanted.
I have chatted with Shri several times since she first reached out to me for their wedding photography, and she instantly has become an easy friend. Her and Terry have a shared love for the outdoors and hiking, so it only made sense that we met up in Shenendoah National Park for a quick hike on the Stony Man trail. All week long it had been foggy and overcast, but we decided to go for it anyway! When we reached the overlook, there were moments when the wind would blow a bit of the clouds out of the way and we could see down into the valley just a little. Otherwise, the fog followed us and made for ethereal, moody photos. Shri and Terry looked amazing and I felt like the fog made the whole scene more intimate.
These are some of my favorite, adventurous images ever. These two are fun, up for anything, and just so perfect together. I cannot wait for their two-day-long celebration this fall in upstate New York!!
