Lonesome Valley Weddings | North Carolina Wedding Venues

As you can probably guess, winter is a bit of a “slow season” for photographers. But when I’m not busy with my camera, I get busy with behind-the-scenes work. One of my favorite things to do during the slower months is touring venues! Shooting Lonesome Valley Weddings is a big “bucketlist” item for me! This is one of my favorite Cashiers Wedding Venues. We all know and love the mountains of the Great Smokies, but Lonesome Valley’s barefaced rock wall is so unique to this area, it really can’t be overlooked!

Now, the only downside to touring venues in the dead of winter is – you guessed it! – the landscape isn’t looking its prime. The trees are bare and the grass is less than colorful. However, just know this: if you can fall in love with a venue in the dead of winter then you’ll be blown away with it come spring, summer, or fall when it’s full of life! Keep scrolling to catch some of my favorite features about Lonesome Valley Weddings and why you should consider it as your wedding venue for your Cashiers wedding!

Ideal Location

First of all, Lonesome Valley is central to so many things! It’s less than 2 hours away from Asheville, just over 2 hours away from Atlanta, and it’s 20 minutes away from Highlands. And while this venue does not offer on-site lodging for guests or brides/grooms, there are so many other awesome options in the area, from Bed & Breakfasts, to cabins, to Airbnbs, and historic hotels, you will find something for everyone here! Western North Carolina has mild winters, stunning autumn colors, and beautiful spring and summer. In the mountains there is no end to hiking, waterfalls, swimming holes, the Smokies, and more.

Ceremony Location

In the photo below, can’t you just picture a decorated ceremony arch, lined by chairs on either side? Can’t you just see yourself walking up that aisle with that raw, bare rock in front of you? Gorgeous, right?! It’s just my favorite! In the next photo below that, you’ll see the path to the ceremony aisle – the perfect little hideaway to savor your last few minutes before getting married!

A few other things to note:

You are required to work with a professional wedding planner. (But you know my feelings on working with a wedding planner…right?).

They only book weddings in the months of April, May, September, October and November. Which, honestly, is probably for the best….Can’t you just imagine this scene exploding with orange and yellow leaves changing color?
