Sylva Couple’s Session
Ivory Hollow Farmstead: Megan and Bryan
A few weeks ago I stopped by the Jackson County Farmer’s Market for the first time. I was there with my kids, who required much of my attention, but one little stand caught my eye. Of course it was the flower stand. I stopped and asked if they were a local flower farm, and that’s when I met Megan and Bryan of Ivory Hollow Farmstead in Sylva, North Carolina. They were just beginning their flower farming journey, and I just knew I had to see it!
Not too long after, I met these two at their little Farmstead. They told me about clearing so much of their land. SO. MANY. TREES!! They had a sweet cluster of chickens, and one hen even laying on some chicks that she did not want us to get near. I laughed when Bryan told me he usually has to go in with an oven mitt on his hand so she doesn’t peck him! Bryan and Megan currently live in their Airstream with their two pups, but have plans to build a tiny home on their property.
At the top of their hill they have a view of the Smokies peaking between the tree branches. These two have so many plans and dreams for this flower farm of theirs and I can’t wait to see where it takes them! One day they’ll be providing florals for weddings and events all over Western North Carolina and I hope I get a chance to photograph their work all over again!
