The Lanahans’ Black Balsam Knob Family Photos
When this sweet family contacted me to take their Black Balsam Knob family photos, I couldn’t say YES fast enough. Not only are they the sweetest and cutest trio you’ll ever find, but Mom and Dad had a surprise for their boy. They wanted to tell him, at the top of the mountain, that he had finally gotten his wish. He was going to be a big brother! After we had gotten all warmed up and used to each other, they shared the ultrasound with him. He was so excited! It was such a tender moment for the three (now four!) of them. I loved being a part of this moment with them!
Not only was it the perfect occasion, but it was also the most stunning sunset at Black Balsam. It can be hard to tell what you’re going to get once you climb to the top. I’ve shot there before and been completely blinded with fog, despite it being perfectly clear at the start of the hike. But not so this evening! The skies were clear as glass, and the sun was definitely showing off with this sunset! The layers and layers of Blueridge mountains were so inviting and calming. I loved Mom’s white dress against all the beautiful tones of the sky, mountains, and grass. Despite the colors being incredible, I still am a sucker for a good sappy black and white. So of course you’ll find a few of those tucked into this session as well! I hope I get the chance to meet and photograph their newest addition one day!!
