I am simply in love with these Pickens Nose engagement photos with Betty and John! The fall colors were just starting to peek out, yet the weather was still sunny and warm.

Betty and John are both originally from Poland, but moved to the United States with their families in their childhood. They ended up meeting at Betty’s sister’s wedding, and now here they are, several years later – planning their own wedding! Betty moved to Western North Carolina for her schooling, and John is in Michigan for his job. They’ve survived this far in their long-distance relationship by making the 10 hour drive to one another often. They love the mountains and being out in the country.

However, I didn’t know until we were already at the top of the mountain that while *one* of them loves to hike…. the other one is a little afraid of heights! So I tried not to pose them too close to an edge but they both were brave and did it for the sake of the photo 😉

We started off just outside Standing Indian Campground, a road that Betty and John love to ride his motorcycle on. We of course had to do a few with the motorcycle, since this is something they love to do together! Then we stopped along a cute little creek off the side of the road, before continuing on to Pickens Nose hike. We timed it just right with a cotton-candy sunset.

At the top of the mountain I gave them time to just be themselves, just be together, and just enjoy the views. I love those photos where they are just wrapped up in one another, feeling safe. These two were so easy to talk to and I loved hearing about their plans for their wedding and different Polish traditions for wedding days! I’m so happy for them and so in love with these photos!
